The fixed cone is attached to the middle bearing plate. Steel counterbalance cords run from roller screws near the hinge on both sides of the door up to notches of cable drums in the bottom corners. When the door is raised, all the spring tension stored from being under wind-up (high torque) is taken by the wind-off of this stored mechanical energy into the air surrounding your working site only as noise and vibration.

Lift the door by turning the rotating shaft and the cable drums and rolling the cords around the grooves on the cable drums. When the door is lowered, the cords unwind from the springs, and the drums are rewound to full tension.
